Q: What’s the difference between a web service and an application that I access over the web?
A: A Web Service is an application that has a programmatic interface versus a graphical user interface.  Hence, the Web Service can be accessed from many different graphical user interfaces, such as Web pages, scanners or rich-client applications, such as Microsoft Office.  This makes the data stored in this application much more reusable and allows you to quickly build new business processes that incorporate this data.  Moreover, the Avorcor Supply-Chain-as-a-Service Suite is a set of Web Services that implement specific business functionality, so you are purchasing capability that is ready for use right out-of-the-box and doesn't need additional subject matter expertise to take advantage of its power.

Q: Is the Supply-Chain-as-a-Service Suite considered Commerical-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software?
A: The Avorcor Supply-Chain-as-a-Service Suite is COTS software.  We evaluated industry best practices and many unique business scenarios when designing each Web Service we provide, and we learn of more everyday.  Hence, each Web Service supports most company's needs out-of-the-box and is fully documented.  The difference between our Web Services and a full-fledged application, is that our services are designed to be incorporated into a larger business process.  Our Web templates and scanner forms can speed delivery of a completed solution, but do require customization to fit the needs of each individual customer.

A: All of the Avorcor Supply-Chain-as-a-Service Suite's services can operate in a completely stand-alone mode and do not need to connect to an existing WMS/ERP system to deliver the functionality it provides.  So, if you are looking to develop out new capabilities separate of your existing systems or starting a completely new initiative, our services will provide a robust, agile platform for the creation of your supply-chain processes.  Additionally, if contemplating a move off your current system is a major hurdle to your organization, the Supply-Chain-as-a-Service can provide an incremental path of away from your current system that minimizes risk to your organization.

The Avorcor Receiving Service allows companies to manage supplier documents, such as purchase orders, advanced ship notices, packing slips, purchase receipts and invoices in a single location.  The Receiving Service matches all related supplier documents against the originating purchase order allowing receiving and accounting to rapidly reconcile and view procure-to-pay process.   During the receiving process, the Receiving Service generates purchase receipts that can be imported into accounting systems to manage the payables process and to ensure accurate supplier payments.
